Job Description:
 
 

JOB TITLE:                                      Early Childhood Center Director

REPORTS TO:                                 Superintendent & Region 14 Head Start Director   

FLSA STATUS:                                Exempt

MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT:   12 Months

 

GOAL:

Provide leadership to insure equity in performance for all young learners including those in Early Head Start and Head Start.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

?     Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university

?     Principal’s Certification

?     Preferred valid teaching certificate

?     Skills and abilities in a management capacity relevant to human services program management

?     Five (5) years experience in supervisory capacity

?     Knowledge of federal Head Start and Early Head Start regulations and State licensing

?     Experience in working with children birth to five.

?     Proven oral and written communication

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:

 

I.      Program Planning/Organization Skills         

?   Designs and implements system for measuring the effectiveness of the Comanche ISD Early Childhood Center component and makes improvements as necessary.

?   Develops and maintains effective systems to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

?   Identifies and develops goals, objectives, and procedures for Comanche ISD Early Childhood Center.

?   Organizes staff and resources to implement the performance standards and support needed services to LEAs and SSAs.

?   Monitor and evaluates the extent to which project objectives have been met to determine future directions.

?   Ensure that all enrolled children receive services in accordance to Performance Standards

?   Coordinate development and implementation of annual training plan for board members, policy council members and staff.

?   Submit monthly attendance report to the Office of Head Start.

?   Report to governing body Board of Trustees.

?   Provides visionary leadership of ESC14.

?   Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

 

II.    Fiscal Management

?   Develops and maintains component's budgets that support effective instructional practices and provides greater operational efficiency for districts and Region 14.

?   Monitor the component’s priorities for the most effective use of resources to reach identified program needs.

 

III.   Leadership

?   Provides leadership in planning, implementation and operation of comprehensive programs for young learners.

 

IV.   Communication Skills

?   Maintains effective communication with Region 14 staff, LEAs and TEA, and Regional Head Start office through a variety of techniques.

?   Disseminates information from TEA, Office of Head Start and other related agencies to LEAs and SSAs concerning the education of young learners.

?   Provide information to the community and the media, that identifies and promote recruitment.

 

V.    Consultative and Technical Assistance

?   Demonstrates accessibility through periodic contacts with LEAs, SSAs and promptly responds to LEA/SSA requests for assistance.

?   Assists LEAs in the implementation of programs and innovative practices to meet their individual needs while maintaining full compliance.

?   Actively cooperates and participates with other agencies, National/Regional Office of Head Start, Head Start Programs, LEAs, SSAs,  to promote the interest and welfare of Region 14 schools.

?   Promotes programs, instructional techniques etc. that lead toschool readiness.

 

VI.   Human Relations

?   Maintains and promotes a cooperative and effective working relationship with colleagues and clients in a friendly and respectful manner.

?   Encourages activities that foster a climate of understanding and support for educational programs.

 

VII. Specialized Knowledge

?   Identifies and promotes effective practices that contribute to the goal of equitable performance for all young learners.

?   Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining documentation and required reports for Region 14 ESC, TEA, and Head Start.

?   Maintains an understanding of reporting and documentation requirements for monitoring visits.

 

VIII.Personal and Professional Image

?   Strives to improve competencies through professional growth and development activities.

?   Demonstrates self-motivation, enthusiasm, adjustment to change and job dedication.

?   Demonstrates positive adjustment to change and job dedication.

 

IX.   Required Training for Continued Employment Consideration

?   New Employee Orientation

?   Head Start Orientation – overview of general operation and performance standards for Head Start

?   Head Start Director Training – overview of responsibilities; Head Start Financial orientation and Head Start Director mentoring.

?   Monitoring Protocol Training – preparation for Federal Review and on-going monitoring of Head Start and Early Head Start.

?   Head Start Current Updates Training – current updates / issues; fiscal training; legal issues.

?   TEAM Training – Lead Agent Requirements

?   Head Start Orientation - Overview of general operation and performance standards.

?   Head Start sponsored trainings.

?   Head Start content area trainings.

?   Federal and statewide initiatives updates

Comanche High School has an opening for a Special Education Inclusion teaching position. Paraprofessional

The successful candidate will work closely with certified teachers to serve our students in a regular education environment. The ability to work independently is an important component of this job while always keeping in mind that our duty is to appropriately serve our students. Other duties may include supervising recess, lunch duty and bus duty.
