Follett Online Helps:  After you log in to Destiny, there is a Help link in the upper right hand corner.  There is also a How do I? link on the right side of the page that answers questions related to the page you are on.  Anywhere  you see a ? , there will be some help information.

  • Click on Training , then 
  • Click on By Delivery Method
  • Click on E-Learning on the left hand-side of the page.
  • Click on Our E-Learning Modules - You will need to create an account before you can access the Modules.

LM-NET Archives:  http://www.eduref.org/lm_net/archive/   If you have a question about something library related, you can look to see what other librarians have said about the topic in the past. 

You can subscribe to LM_NET – but the daily e-mails can be overwhelming.  You can also subscribe to TLC listserv.  You still get quite a few e-mails through TLC, but they are not as overwhelming as LM_NET.

Texas School Library Standards - http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/schoollibs/sls/index.html   -  Use the standards to help you make the library an excellent library at your school.

Follett Titlewave for Selecting and Ordering books:   http://www.flr.follett.com/login/   After creating an account and logging in,  click on Collection Development at the top of the page to help you select books to order.  It can be helpful to narrow your search by the following:

  • Copyright Date:  (Try to order books that are less than 1 year old if possible.)\
  • Grade Level:  Typically use the selection, Grade 5-8.
  • Reviews:  Select books that have been given good reviews by review journals, such as:  School Library Journal Starred;   Booklist
  • Starred; Publisher's Weekly Starred.    


Weeding
            MUSTY - You can use the acronym, MUSTY, as a guide to help you weed books from the library.        
                         M  =  misleading (and/or factually inaccurate)
                         U  =  Ugly (worn and beyond mending or rebinding)
                         S  =  Superseded by a newer or better book on the subject
                         T  =  Trivial (of no discernible merit)
                         Y  =  Your collection has no use for this item (out of the scope of your
                                  library's mission, vision, or goals
